Media relations for The Salvation Army (USA) are handled by its National Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, and its public relations consultant, Xenophon Strategies. All local media are asked to first contact their local Salvation Army representative for assistance with their inquiries or to speak to a local Salvation Army spokesperson.
Salvation Army Organizational Structure
For administrative purposes, The Salvation Army USA is divided into four territories: the Eastern Territory with headquarters in West Nyack, New York; the Central Territory with headquarters in Des Plaines, Illinois; the Southern Territory with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia; and the Western Territory with headquarters in Long Beach, California.
Territories are made up of smaller units known as divisions. There are 40 divisions of The Salvation Army in the United States. Divisions consist of corps community centers for worship and service, which are the most basic units of The Salvation Army, and various specialized service centers. Each corps provides religious and social services that are adapted to meet local needs under the direction of their supervising corps officer.
