Mission Trip to Liberia
Maj. Marie Edinger of the Portage County Salvation Army returned Feb. 24 from a mission trip to Liberia, West Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world. Marie, along with six session mates from her ordination class of 1981, left Feb. 10 for Liberia to help two other session mates, Majors Bob and Hester Dixon, leaders of the Salvation Army in Liberia.

Emergency Financial Assistance and Food Pantry
Located in Ravenna and open 5 days a week, we offer assistance with shut-off notices (or already turned off) for electric, gas, fuel oil, propane, as well with evictions, security deposits, and prescriptions. The Salvation Army Learning CentersThe Salvation Army's learning center serves children in 1st to 4th grades in four elementary schools in Ravenna. Focus is on reading, writing, and comprehension as well as math and homework. More...
The Salvation Army Summer Kidventure Program
During the summer a 10 week all day enrichment program is provided for elementary-age children. Children focus on reading, writing and comprehension. Music activities are also provided as well as weekly cultural field trips. More...
Youth Programs
Girl Guards, Sunbeams and Boy's Adventure Corps are weekly programs we offer for children that are designed to help build character, develop spiritually, find new friends and to come and have a good time together in a nurturing environment.
Shoes On My Feet Program
All schools in Portage County are welcome to participate in this program. On average, over 400 shoe vouchers are given to children grades K-12 in need of shoes/boots for the new school year. Vouchers in the amounts of $15 - $20 are used at participating stores. More...
