Helping Students Go Back to School

Target, The Salvation Army and local law enforcement professionals are helping 2,000 kids get ready to go back to school nationwide.

This August, less fortunate students in grades K-6 will be escorted to a nearby Target and allowed to purchase $100 worth of brand new school supplies using gift cards that Target donated to The Salvation Army. The children were invited to participate by Salvation Army personnel coordinating the events and will be chaperoned by members of local law enforcement who will aid them in their purchase decisions.

While The Salvation Army is engaged in back-to-school efforts across the country, this collaboration with Target is one-of-a-kind. The Target Shopping Spree will take place on August 11 and a post-event update will follow to share the beauty of what is possible when communities collaborate for the good of their children.

The Salvation Army applauds law enforcement for their guidance to America’s youth and is very grateful to Target for its generosity and support in making a difference in the lives of so many children through The Salvation Army’s programs and support services.
