The Kroc Center offers classes in three sessions: Fall, Winter and Spring. Fall classes begin on Monday, September 15 and run until Saturday, November 22. Some classes are only available by season. All classes are subject to cancellation or changes due to low enrollment (fewer than 6 students). Classes are 10-12 weeks in duration unless otherwise noted. There is a minimum of an eight-week commitment to full season classes, except single drop-in classes.

CREATIVE BALLET FUSION | AGES: 3 - 5 years

This class will include the basic elements of Ballet while allowing students toexperiment with other dance forms. The objective of this class is to teach students coordination, dance terminology as well as how to count music.

Saturday | 10:30am - 11:45am | $100 M , $150 NM

PRE-BALLET  | AGES: 5 - 6 YEARS

This class provides students with the basic understanding of classical ballet principals and technique. Ballet is the foundation for all dances and can help imporove other dance techniques such as hip hop, jazz, modern and tap by developing muscles,improving self-esteem, self-expression, focus and grace. This class is perfect for the students to experince the beginnings of a traditional ballet class through barre, across the floor and center combinations

Saturday | 12:30pm - 1:45pm | 100 M , $150 NM

PARENT & TOT DANCE   | AGES: 1.5 - 3 YEARS

 

This 45-min class is designed for the young child that loves to explore movements and dance with music. Emphasis is placed on fine and gross motor skill development, coordination and balance with the use of props, mats, and sing-along songs in a safe nurturing environment. This class is a perfect opportunity for babies to get in on the dance fun before they are old enough to join class on their own for more dance instruction. Parents can stay fit and enjoy the moments while dancing with your child! *This is a drop in class.  

 

Saturday | 9:30am - 10:15am | $60 M (FS) , $85 NM (FS) , $10 M/$12 (S)

BALLET LEVEL 1   | AGES: 7 YEARS AND UP

 

The goal of this class is to impart the fundamentals of classical ballet . This class focuses on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, french  terminology and musicality. When these students complete the session, a Ballet Level 2 can be  offered in the next season. 


Monday | 5:00pm - 6:15pm | $100 M , $150 NM

HIP-HOP FUSION   | AGES: 7 -15 YEARS

This open class will introduce young students’ to the  basic vocabulary and style of hip hop movement. Hip Hop is about personal style and expression. This high energy class can be taught to anyone with a passion to move, so no dance experience is required. This class will focus on basic techniques, isolations and rhythm patterns found in various styles of movement like hip-hop, jazz and ballet. In addition, this class has a strong emphasis on accents and fluid movements. Furthermore, students will acquire the tools to hone their individual freestyle as well as the ability to add their unique self into set choreography. This class, like all of our open classes, is subject to the needs of the overall attendees of each class.  *This is a drop-in class.  

Friday | 6:30pm - 7:15pm | $85 M (FS) , $100 NM (FS) , $9 M/$12 (S)

YOUTH BEGINNING BALLET   | AGES: 9 YEARS AND UP

 

This class covers the fundamentals of ballet in an encouraging, disciplined atmosphere, helping the student to progress quickly to age appropriate goals. Perfect for the recreational dancer once a week or the late starter. 

 

Friday | 5:00pm - 6:15pm | $100 M , $150 NM

PIANO LAB   | AGES: 6-12 YEARS

 

This course is designed for students who wish to develop basic piano playing skills, or expand on their existing skills. Time in class will be spent both on and off the keyboards. While playing, students will be working individually and in small groups to master the techniques of playing and to learn pieces. There will also be time spent in group instruction on musical notation and theory.  

 

Friday | 6:00pm - 7:30pm | $125 M, $150 NM

INTRODUCTION TO DRUMMING  | AGES: 16-20 YEARS

 

This class will introduce young students’ to basic music theory and gain an understanding of musical notation, so no previous musical experience is required.  The class will allow students to develop their musical skills and rhythmic understanding through various beginner drumming exercises and instrumental activities. They will learn how to work collaboratively, foster patience, commitment and musical appreciation and overall develop self-esteem and self-expression. Music is carefully selected to be consistent with Salvation Army mission and age appropriate for all participants.  

 

Saturday | 10:00am- 11:30am | $125 M , $150 NM

BEGINNER  STUDIO RECORDING CLASSES FOR YOUTH  | AGES: 16-20 YEARS

In this class you will learn how to create and produce original music beats to support original raps or lyrics for original songs. Additionally, you will learn how to create “cover” songs to help nurture the creation of your original material. Each participant will learn the basics of recording and producing using GarageBand Software. By the end of the series of classes you create a mix CD of your work. Come prepared to make music, rap or sing! Music must be consistent with Salvation Army mission and age appropriate for all participants.
