What does the Kind Family Resource Center do?

The Kind Family Resource Center is where The Salvation Army is in it's truest form. A place of help, of giving, and care when needed. The better question is 'what don't we do'!? Conveniently located athe the entrance to the Kroc Center, this in-house program refers and/or assists individuals with a myriad of concerns and needs.

  • For instance, a mother with 6 children came in for referral assistance to an agency that would best meet her needs: She recently gave birth to two developmentally challenged children (she was introduced to a special needs childcare agency) and we submitted an application for the Adopt-A-Family Program.
  • In another instance, we received a call from a Landlord who informed us of an elderly couple in desperate need of a mattress. We called the Philadelphia Housing for the Aging and a mattress, bed and box spring were delivered to the home of the individuals.

The KFRC offers drop-in conversations with Vets who visit us from the VA located less than half a mile from the Kroc.

We offer emergency food, budget/fiscal counsel, nutrition information and we coordinate the Wells Fargo Financial Planning classes that are conducted at the Kroc [for people of all ages – youth, teens, adults, Golden].

We offer Holiday assistance, and pastoral care referral to our on-site pastoral care team. The Kind Family Resource Center conducts a free GED class Mondays and Wednesdays for persons age 18 and above.

The Kind Family Resource Center also serves as the registration point for families who wish to enroll their children in our Summer Day Camp, Homework Zone and overnight encampment activities.

The Kind Family Resource Center is the point of access/host to our partner schools, in particular: Wissahickon Charter and PA School for the Deaf.
