Local family pays back holiday kindness a generation later
Fitchburg, MA, November 17, 2013 -When Dean Tran and his siblings were younger, their father received toys for them from the Salvation Army Toy Distribution. Pictured to the right are Tran and his family making a two thousand dollar donation which will provide approximately 200 Thanksgiving turkeys to local families in need.
The Tran Family was motivated to make this gift for the sake of both the older and younger members of their family. After the recent passing of Dean's father they gave the gift in his memory and to honor the help the family had received years ago. Equally important was the opportunity to teach their children that it is good to give back to the community where you live.
Majors Mark & Charlene Hager thank the Tran family for helping them "Do The Most Good" in the Fitchburg area.

Our hope is that this will be a place where you can find direction, refreshment, friendship, and family. You may have questions about The Salvation Army. Is it really a church? Yes! We are part of the universal Christian church and are committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Christ. Our ministry is motivated by the love of God and our mission is simple, "Heart to God & Hand to Man." If you are looking for a church home, perhaps you will consider giving us a try. We have a variety of programs to meet the growing needs of today's family."A man from Samaria then came traveling along the road. When he saw the man, he felt sorry for him ... He treated his wounds... and took him to an inn where he took care of him. The next morning he gave the innkeeper two silver coins and said, "Please take care of the man..." Then Jesus asked, "Which one was the real neighbor to the man who was beaten up by robbers?" The teacher answered, "The one who showed pity." Jesus said, "Go and do the same!". -Luke 10:33-37
