Your contibutions truly do a lot...they help us to transform lives!
You have probably seen the sign "When you put a dollar in this kettle, expect change." Faithful to that promise, The Salvation Army in Massachusetts directs 82 cents of every dollar raised to its programs and services that transform lives. Programs that feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the shivering, provide gifts for children, help rehabilitate lives lost to addiction, and much more. Our approach to service focuses not only on meeting immediate, emergency needs, but creating sustainable change for individuals, families and communities.
Last year in Massachusetts, The Salvation Army provided over 1,500,000 meals and over 300,000 nights of shelter. Through the generous support of donors, we provided over 100,000 opportunities for children and youth for camping experiences, after-school gatherings for tutoring, recreation, meals, and character-building programs.
One of the key ways we maximize your gifts is our use of volunteers - those faces you might see preparing hot meals for the homeless, tutoring kids after school, distributing meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Over 4,000 strong, last year they lent over 330,000 volunteer hours to help us deliver service efficiently, effectively and from their hearts.
