Walmart and Republicans Deliver for The Salvation Army
HARTFORD – For the fourth consecutive year, Walmart,
Connecticut Republican Legislators, and The Salvation Army have joined forces
to raise funds for the people in need that the Army serves. Legislators stand
ourtside their local Walmart stores during Kettle season, usually between
Thanksgiving and Christmas. There, they "ring the bell" for an hour and
whatever amount is raised during this time Walmart then "matches."
(Connecticut State Rep. Tim
LeGeyt with Walmart store manager Fred Fuller and
Major Brian Glasco, Greater Hartford Area Coordinator, participating in one of
several "Walmart matches.")
Captain Colette Masom commented, "Christmas is the busiest time of the year
for us. There are never enough hours in the day to get through all of the work
that needs to be completed. We know that our State Representatives are busy
too, but we appreciate them taking the time out of their busy schedules to aid
us in raising funds to help those in need. We thank Walmart and we thank our
State Legislators for their generous support. We are truly blessed."
Other State Representatives participating this past year included: Rep.
Christie Carpino, Rep. Christopher Davis, Rep. Thermis Klarides, Rep. Brenda
Kupchick, Rep.Timothy LeGeyt, Rep. Rosa Rebimbas, and Rep. David Labriola.
