Greetings! Thank you for your interest in The Salvation Army of Greater Waterbury’s LemonAid Campaign. This campaign is a benefit to help homeless children from the Greater Waterbury area that come to The Salvation Army’s Family Emergency Shelter.
Summertime brings to mind images of children riding bicycles, running through the grass in the backyard and sipping lemonade on the front stoop. But for many children in our area, there is no backyard, no bicycle and no front stoop. Last year, 102 children stayed at the shelter for an average of 75 days each. Our 30-bed, 9-room shelter is a safe, nurturing environment for homeless families with children, with a goal of getting each family back into affordable, permanent homes.
Your participation in the LemonAid Campaign helps us to continue providing the services that move these families out of homelessness and into stable housing. The program is simple and can be a fun activity for your family, church group, sports team, scout troop, or any other group of children who want to make a difference. Just contact our office to get a LemonAid Campaign Kit. The kit will include instructions, suggestions and posters for your stand.
You can also complete the online registration here, as well as receive all the latest news on the campaign. You can also find us on Facebook, just follow the link below to “Like” our page. Then join us for a wrap-up rally on July 20, 2013, at Chase Park on Highland Avenue in Waterbury to celebrate. Each participating group will be recognized and prizes will be awarded to groups who raise the most funds or hold the most creative lemonade stand. Hotdogs will be provided by Frankies and there will be lots and lots of lemonade!
We hope you’ll join us in our LemonAid Campaign and register soon!
