Programs and Schedule
The Salvation Army’s Meriden Corps’ offers many social services programs to people in need.
Food Pantry – Available to eligible individuals Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
Soup Kitchen – The Salvation Army’s Soup Kitchen serves nutritious meals to those in need every Saturday at noon and each Sunday at
Disaster Relief Lodging – Temporary lodging/referrals can be provided in the event of an emergency, disaster or homelessness.
Financial Assistance – As funding permits, The Salvation Army provides rental and utility assistance to eligible individuals, referrals for assistance, or collaborates with other agencies to jointly pay one’s rental or utility bill/s.
Holiday Assistance – Assistance provided during the holiday season - food baskets, toys, holiday gifts, etc.
Medical – As funding permits, The Salvation Army may pay a portion of medical bills or refer those in need to a legal advocate.
The Salvation Army has a long history of helping people live as independently as possible, as secure, active, and contributing members of society through the following local programs:
Counseling – Upon request, pastoral counseling is available. The Salvation Army offers a listening and caring ear, regardless of the situation.
Sundays: 10:00 AM - Sunday School for all ages.
11:00 AM - Worship Service.
Wednesdays: 10:00 AM - Women’s Ministries.
Thursdays: 5:30 PM - Prayer Meeting and Adult Bible Study.
Fridays: 4:00 PM - Children’s Program.
Children and Families
The Salvation Army helps children develop to their fullest potentials in environments that promote learning and achievement, while also supporting healthy, nurturing family relationships and ensuring that the elderly are not overlooked:
Youth Camp - The Salvation Army offers
a one-week overnight summer camp for children ages 7 to 15, with tutoring, recreation, and
spiritually-based activities at its Camp CONNRI in Ashford, Connecticut.
Grandparents Camp - Designed for seniors raising their grandchildren. Seniors attend a special week at CONNRI Lodge, while their grandchildren attend the same week at the Youth Camp.
CONNRI Lodge & Conference Center - Also in Ashford Connecticut, this senior getaway is a one-week retreat for those ages 50 and above. Fees are a small percentage of what other retreats cost.

Meriden Salvation Army Event a "Tasty" Success!
MERIDEN - The Fourth Annual Meriden Salvation Army
Soup, Soap & Hope fundraiser was held at the Four Points by Sheraton
Meriden on Thursday evening, April 10, to spread the word about the work of the
Army in the City.
Meriden Corps Officer, Captain Brenda Gonzalez, started the program with a
welcome to everyone and turned the podium over to Advisory Board Chairman
Michael Murdy. Mike introduced the guests and The Salvation Army ensemble, the
latter who played "America the Beautiful" and kept the room filled with music

Hundreds of Coats Given Away in Meriden
MERIDEN - As temperatures fell below zero last week, Tami Cupe thought of the poor.
"I’m praying, 'Lord, don't let anybody suffer in the cold,'" Cupe said.

12,000 Coats Warm Connecticut This Winter
CONNECTICUT - The fifth annual Coats For Connecticut campaign proved to be an avalanche of generosity and community with over 12,000 gently-used coats being collected, cleaned and delivered to those in need when needed most. From Nov. 8 through Jan. 4, the general public was asked to drop off gently-used winter coats for all ages at any of Best's 11 locations for free cleaning and weekly delivery to Salvation Army centers and shelters in the greater Hartford, Middletown, Meriden, Bristol and New Britain areas. Carpino Joins the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign
CROMWELL- State Representative Christie Carpino (R-32) raised $379.48 for the Salvation Army’s “Red Kettle Campaign” on December 5th outside of Wal-Mart in Cromwell.
Wal-Mart promised a dollar-for-dollar matching contribution bringing the total to $758.96 raised for the Salvation Army by Rep. Carpino’s volunteer efforts that hour. Through the Bell Ringing Across America program, Wal-Mart partners with the Salvation Army to promote the famous red kettle tradition of holiday giving. More pictures, State Rep. Isael and Brenda Gonzalez Now Captains!
MERIDEN – Effective July 1, 2013, Salvation Army
Meriden Corps Officers, Isael and Brenda Gonzalez were promoted to the rank of
Captain. Promotions in The Salvation Army are based on length of service,
character, efficiency, capacity for increased responsibility, and devotion to
duty… and by now they have certainly earned their "second star." Their history in serving Connecticut and an officer rank overview...

Festival Celebrates Back-to-School
MERIDEN — The Salvation Army held a Children’s Festival on Friday to help students and parents get ready for the start of a new school year.
