The 2012 Garbage Bag Gala,
held at the Fairmont Pittsburgh
on November 1st was a huge success, raising nearly $40,000! Proceeds of this event benefit homeless
families housed in The Salvation Army Family Caring Center in East
Liberty. Special thanks to Event
Founder and Chair, Pamela Abdalla, member of The Salvation Army Greater
Pittsburgh Advisory Board as well as The Salvation Army National Board for her
leadership; and to all the members of The Garbage Bag Gala Committee for their
generous gifts of time, talent and treasure. Over 170 guests
enjoyed a fantastic evening, including a VIP reception
with nationally recognized philanthropist, Margot Perot; fabulous
hors d’oeuvres by Fairmont Pittsburgh; silent auction and
“dumpster dive” for prizes; and a fashion show narrated by WTAE TV
Channel 4’s
Wendy Bell featuring local celebrities modeling the finest in “Trash-wear
designs” created by local boutiques.
