“108 Salutations for Salvation . . . Giving With Gratitude” is Pittsburgh's first large-scale charity yoga event to benefit The Salvation Army's East Liberty Family Caring Center. Slated for Sunday, June 3rd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the East Liberty Presbyterian Church, “108 Salutations for Salvation” offers first-rate instructors, prizes, gift vouchers from the Fairmont Hotel, henna tattoos, shoulder massages, musical entertainment, drumming and so much more.

"We wanted to create a unique and healthy charity event,” said Pamela Abdalla, a member of both The Salvation Army’s Greater Pittsburgh and National Advisory Boards.

Pittsburgh-area Yoginis, Debra Acri, LeighAnn Handel and Jen Stratakis were instrumental to the planning process. “Pamela is passionate about The Salvation Army and especially its Family Caring Center,” said Stratakis. “Debra, LeighAnn and I thought the event was a perfect fit for a very worthwhile cause.”

The Salvation Army’s Family Caring Center is the only program of its kind in the Greater Pittsburgh area that gives shelter to the entire family, including married couples and single fathers or mothers with children. Families in need will find a warm and friendly environment that provides a firm foundation while they search for housing and employment. A few of the many services found at this haven include spiritual support services, counseling, nutritious meals, clean safe shelter, health care and support services to adults and children. Residents are even offered weekly yoga classes. To further minimize stress, every effort is made to keep children in their school of origin.

Tickets for “108 Salutations for Salvation . . . Giving With Gratitude” are still available for $40. RSVP to Pamela Abdalla at 412 -737- 2516 or pabdalla5@gmail.com by June 1st. We expect a sellout so I encourage everyone to buy their tickets as soon as possible,” said Abdalla. All proceeds go directly to caring for the homeless children and families at The Salvation Army’s Family Caring Center.
