Programs:
WOMEN'S MINISTRIES (Home League) is a personal improvement program for all women ages 16 and older. The women meet weekly to focus on one of four program elements: worship, education, fellowship and service.
MEN'S FELLOWSHIP CLUB is a personal improvement program for all men ages 16 and older. They meet for weekly social interaction, study and service - whatever interests them. The Men's Fellowship Club joins Home League for family-enrichment programs.
BIBLE STUDY is open to the public. We have a well-balanced Bible study that is used to renew and feed the soul.
CORPS CADET'S is a teen Bible Study for folks 13-18 years old.
SONGSTERS is a program where children can express themselves through singing. They learn new songs to use during meetings and musicals.
BOYS SPORTS CLUB is programming for boys in different age groups, which are assigned by their level of school education. As the boys mature, the activities and requirements become more challenging--stretching their minds and teaching them the stronger lessons of life. The theme is built around sports. They will participate in sports and learn about the history of sports. The Boys Sports Club will also attend sporting events and meet local sports heroes.
SUNBEAMS (ages 6-10) and GIRL GUARDS (girls ages 11-18) is a social development program comparable to the "Brownies" and "Girl Scout" programs. The girls study and participate in activities to earn badges. These studies prepare the girls to be contributing adult members of society in the future, but allow them to enjoy life today. Keeping active with learning activities prevents them from being "at-risk" citizens in society.
SUPPER CLUB is a dinner program for kids who come to our youth programs.
GOSPEL ARTS is a program that teaches both kids and adults different ways to express themselves through worship including but not limited to: Sacred Dance, Mime, Timbrels.
TEEN CLUB is a fun fellowhip program for the teens in our Community. We enjoy outings to the movies, mall and things of that nature. Second and Fourth Fridays of the month. Call for more details!
THE ABC LEARNING CENTER is a program that provides computer and job training for adults. They will learn computer basics and job training skills to help them prepare for a better job or career. Call for specific details.
COMMUNITY CARE MINISTRIES and JUNIOR COMMUNITY CARE MINISTRIES provides an opportunity to share love. They visit nursing homes and rest homes, as well as individuals who are shut-in and live on their own. The children who are starting young at Sharing & Caring for the sick and elderly by singing, visiting and sharing of their time, energy and lots of hugs! Sometimes they visit as a group, others visit individuals on their own. Holiday gifts are delivered by League members. The League of Mercy visits five nursing homes and one V.A. hospital.
SUMMER PROGRAMS offer activities for children of all ages. This is a fun program with activities ranging from Vacation Bible School to "Summer Fun Days"
CAMP ALLEGHENY is a residential camp operated by The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division. Every summer, 20-30 kids from the Allegheny Valley area spend a week at camp. They have time for swimming and recreation. In addition, children have a variety of classes to choose from such as music, nature, athletics, home life, Bible and others.
SOCIAL SERVICES is a vital part of our work here at the Allegheny Valley Corps. We provide emergency food and clothing to families in need throughout the year. We work with the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches to refer or coordinate in helping those in need. We take applications for the dollar energy program that provides monetary assistance to families to help pay the cost of electric or gas. During the Christmas season we give out food baskets and toys to those who might not have a Christmas. We participate in Project Bundle-Up to ensure local children and seniors have new winter outerwear.
COMMUNITY AWARENESS is something we strive to do in the Allegheny Valley. We accept donations of food, clothing, toys and money to help our Christmas effort. We have also worked closely with the local Rotary and have become a member of the Chamber of Commerce to provide new avenues to serving the public.
