Together with our donors, volunteers and community members, The Salvation Army of Erie has endeavored to serve all of the physical needs of humankind in the name of God since 1886.
Together we can continue to achieve some wonderful results. Over the past year we fed, clothed and witnessed the Gospel to more than 25,000 families and individuals -- pursuing new avenues of service in response to emerging problems by opening new bases of operation and using innovative and improved ways to forward our mission and ministry to the public.
One such new approach to serve elementary-aged students, teens and seniors is our new Computer Technology Center. Thanks to a grant from Verizon we were able to purchase and install ten new computers with internet access and provide free training in using this cutting-edge technology. This technology has opened a new world for our seniors and is an effective tool for students and teens to improve academic performance.
Never one to rest on our laurels, The Salvation Army of Erie hopes to expand our programming to serve at-risk children in the area we serve. Our gymnasium is underused in the evening. Our ultimate goal is to have a full-time staff person who will draw these kids off the street corners and into a recreation program that will promote safety, teamwork, and self-confidence through recreation and the Gospel. All that prevents this is funding.
Pray for us!
