$1.7 Million Required to Complete the Campaign
With steel being erected, the Kroc Center site has become a visible sign of the tremendous progress that the Capital Campaign has made. As construction continues, Campaign Chair John Hamill, along with the Leadership Gifts Committee, has kept pace with the goal of bringing the campaign to a close by the end of the year.
The campaign's success to date enabled The Salvation Army to begin construction during the summer of 2009 by reaching the threshold of $113 million of the project's total value of $115.5 million. Due to the committee's ongoing efforts through the late summer and fall, the balance stands...Read full story

THE SALVATION ARMY RAY AND JOAN KROC CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER of Boston is a once-in-a-lifetime investment that will change the lives of Boston's neediest families for generations to come. At the Kroc Center children will play. Learners will discover. Parents will dream. Troubled spirits will find healing. Families will come together. A community will have a place. Our goal is within reach - with your help. The Kroc Center will bring hope to people who need it, new life to a community in need and a vision for the next generation of our city. This is indeed the time for bold action in Boston.
Mission
The Kroc Center will provide more than 100 diverse program components designed to nurture the body, mind and spirit of all who enter. With superb facilities to match the Kroc Center will be a beacon of hope and an agent of change in Boston. It will provide children, youth, families and individuals with spiritual, educational, recreational and other activities that build character, confidence, capacity and hope. Because the Kroc Center is directly responsive to the assessed needs and desires of those it serves, it will enrich the entire community.
Our Team
The Kroc Center project already has the backing of Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Governor Deval Patrick and numerous civic and community leaders. Our Capital Campaign is under the determined leadership of John Hamill (pictured, right), Chairman, Sovereign Bank New England, and an esteemed alliance of New England's most influential and generous business executives.

Impact
There are 58,000 residents living within a one mile radius of the planned site, 19,000 of whom are children. The 6.5 acre Kroc Center campus will be a place of retreat and community, offering its neighbors a full spectrum of quality resources, programs and activities. The Kroc Center will be a catalyst in the revitalization of an underserved neighborhood of Boston where two-thirds of the residents have income below the self-sufficiency standard.

Future
Through The Salvation Army's trained staff and volunteers, as well as through community partners, the Kroc Center will offer programs such as aquatics (swim lessons, water aerobics and therapy, an indoor water park and an outdoor "spray ground"); recreation and fitness (gym, aerobics and sports leagues); senior activities (meals, outreach and intergenerational programs); enrichment (mentoring, counseling and health education); visual and performing arts (theater, dance, music, painting and a video/sound studio); education (ESL, life skills, test prep, tutoring, literacy and conflict resolution); workforce development (culinary education, entrepreneurial training and interview prep skills). The Kroc Center will also offer traditional Salvation Army programs such as worship, Bible study and social service assistance including food pantry and heat assistance.
Your Investment
Boston was selected as the site for the only Kroc Center in New England. A $115.5 million investment in the Uphams-Dudley neighborhood of Boston, the Kroc Center is a 90,000 square foot comprehensive facility that honors Mrs. Kroc's vision and her unprecedented lead gift amounting to $85.5 million. This leaves The Salvation Army with only $30 million to be raised locally before Boston can fully realize the undertaking that Mrs. Kroc's gift has already begun. So far, we have received nearly $11 million in pledges and that means we are within $20 million of breaking ground. Her estate provides The Salvation Army in Boston with a 3-to-1 match which, when met, will allow for construction to commence and this dream to become reality. This will also sustain the center as $50 million will be allocated to an endowment to help make the center accessible to residents of Dorchester and Roxbury. It is an investment and an inspiring opportunity that Boston cannot let pass.

The campaign's success to date enabled The Salvation Army to begin construction during the summer of 2009 by reaching the thresheold of $113 million of the project's total value of $115.5 million. Due to the committee's ongoing efforts, the balance stands at $1.7 million to bring the project to completion and provide for a vibrant, sustainable program on Dudley Street that is expected to impact 1,000 people a day.
Hamill continues to compel the campaign toward the finish line, "To realize the accomplishments of the campaign at this time is a tremendous victory. But that victory is not yet complete. We are now at a crucial point in the campaign and must continue to raise the remaining funds in the days ahead to complete the task at hand." To that end, Hamill has set an ambitious goal, "It is my hope and prayer that we can announce total victory by the end of the spring." Site visits with potential funders are occuring regularly.
