In rural areas where there are no Salvation Army facilities, community volunteers form a Service Unit committee to respond to the emergency needs of individuals within the community.
The Erie County Service Units are located in Akron, Angola, Eden, Holland, North Collins and Springville providing service to rural county residents. Service is available seven days per week, 24 hours per day.
Customers can contact the unit for alleviation of their emergency need for food, shelter, clothing and transportation, as well as Christmas assistance and other emergencies in which The Salvation Army can be of service or a source of referral.
The Units will continue to build a network of resources to enable residents of rural Erie County to address their barriers to self-sufficiency. This has been done in Springville and Angola through the establishment of a strong collaboration with the Springville Griffith and Lakeshore Central school districts. This enables families to receive holistic family support through the school network.
