JCPenney and The Salvation Army Launch Largest Online Angel Giving Tree Program in Western New York and Nationwide - 11/9/09 J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) and The Salvation Army are joining forces this Christmas season to give joy to even more people in need through a grand-scale online Angel Giving Tree program. From now until December 14, for the first-time ever, customers can adopt and shop online for Angels atwww.jcp.com/angelproviding tens of thousands of children and seniors facing hardship in communities across the country with Christmas gifts.

Created in collaboration with JCPenney partners Razorfish, Akamai Technologies, Sapient and Tata, the online Angel Giving Tree program allows customers to adopt an Angel at jcp.com/angel and conveniently shop for them online at jcp.com, in JCPenney stores or at any location they choose. In a few easy steps, customers can visit the site to request an Angel by location, age range and gender. An Angel who matches the criteria will be e-mailed to the customer along with a list of needed items. The confirmation e-mail will also include a link to view drop-off locations in the customer's area and ship-to addresses for online orders.
In collaboration with FedEx Ground, Angel Giving Tree gifts purchased through jcp.com can be shipped free of charge to any one of the 1,200 Salvation Army collection centers nationwide - putting the entire selection, shopping and delivery process at the customer's fingertips.

The Salvation Army Honors Fallen Firefighters - 8/27/09 The Salvation Army has been invited to provide canteen services to those who will be gathering in downtown Buffalo on Friday, August 28, 2009, for the funerals of our fallen firefighters. The Canteen will be on location Friday morning reaching out to those honoring Lt. Charles McCarthy and Firefighter Jonathan Croom. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Old Cathedral. Salvation Army staff and volunteers will be distributing water and coffee throughout the day.
The Salvation Army responded to the devastating fire at an East Side building that resulted in the tragic loss of two Buffalo firefighters early Monday morning. Our Emergency Disaster Services team was on-site with the Canteen distributing food, beverages and other essentials to firemen and emergency personnel.

The Salvation Army Sends Canteen to Help Flood Victims - 8/12/09 The Salvation Army Buffalo Area Services deployed The Emergency Disaster Canteen on Tuesday to Gowanda, NY to aid the recent flood victims. Over 200 clean up kits consisting of mops and other cleaning resources were dispersed to help in the clean up effort. Hundreds of personal care kits, including personal items such as soap and deodorant, were also given to local residents. Major Robert Dixon, Area Coordinator, and John Hagelberger, Director of Operations, both representing The Salvation Army Buffalo Area Services, visited the site on Tuesday to assess the situation, and are sending volunteer disaster relief workers to aid in the cleaning process. Staff and volunteers from all local area Salvation Army locations have been assisting in this effort, including corps and service units from Jamestown, Olean, and other areas of Chautauqua County.
The Salvation Army Responds to Continental Flight #3407 Disaster - 2/12/09 Within 90 minutes of the tragedy on February 12, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Canteen was on site, responding to the horrendous Continental Flight #3407 disaster in Clarence Center, NY. From late Thursday evening until Saturday evening, rotating EDS teams provided responders with hot beverages, snacks and emotional support. Positioned within ten yards of the Incident Command Post, the canteen and Salvation Army staff were able to assist the vast network of emergency workers called up for duty.
The Salvation Army salutes the men and women who worked tirelessly under difficult conditions to secure the area and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of Flight #3407 and their families.
