The Salvation Army's "Christmas in July" Campaign Seeks to Raise $75,000
Iconic Red Kettles will be at More than 40 Area Kroger Stores
Cincinnati, OH (July 2, 2012) - The Salvation Army announced today that it has set a goal of $75,000 for this year's "Christmas in July" Campaign. The campaign is taking place throughout the month of July at more than 40 area Kroger stores, including Hamilton and Middletown, using The Salvation Army's iconic red kettles and bell-ringers.
Funds raised through the "Christmas in July" campaign are used to support the critical programs offered by The Salvation Army. Every day, The Salvation Army is active in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, making a positive impact in the lives of those served. Emergency Assistance is a critical area of need, providing food, rent, utilities, transportation and other important forms of support to local families. Youth Development is a core component of The Salvation Army's mission, seeking to make a positive impact on the lives of youth in our local communities, through mentorship, tutoring, spiritual guidance, and varied activities. Emergency Disaster Services provides beverages, meals and more to those who have experienced a fire or storm damage, such as the effects of recent storms in communities throughout southwest and central Ohio.
"The "Christmas in July" Campaign is an important fund-raising event for our local operations," stated Major Timothy Lyle, General Secretary at The Salvation Army. "The Salvation Army has utilized kettles and bell-ringers to raise funds for many decades, especially at Christmas. Each year thousands of donors support our mission through their kettle contributions. We're supplementing this effort in July recognizing that the needs of the community dictate additional funding requirements."
The "Christmas in July" campaign will take place at select area Kroger stores through July 30th. "We're very thankful to Kroger for providing this opportunity," added Matt Pearce, Development Director at The Salvation Army. "Kroger is a very supportive partner, allowing us to place kettles at their stores not only at Christmas, but also in July. It's an important part of our fundraising efforts."
Volunteers are needed to help ring bells for Christmas in July. Those interested in volunteering to ‘stand' a kettle this month should contact Michelle Jones at 513-762-5641, or michelle.jones@use.salvationarmy.org.
