"Caring for Children 6 months to 12 years"

Cincinati's Westside community of Price Hill has a unique offering that is a true treasure for those who have discovered it.  The Salvation Army Learning Center is housed in the Westside Corps of The Salvation Army, offering a unique educational opportunity to families in the Price Hill and surrounding community.

The Learning Center is now accepting applications for enrollment.  For more information, contact Stephanie Simmons @ 513-251-1451.

The Salvation Army Learning Center has two primary components:

  • First, an infant, toddler and pre-school program operates year-round, from 6:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., daily, Monday - Friday.
  • Second, for children of kindergarten age through age 12 there is also year-round care, both before- and after-school during the school year, and all day (each weekday) during the Summer months

The Salvation Army Learning Center is professionally managed and staffed, with individuals whose passion and concern for the children is apparent day-after-day.  The Center has three (3) primary purposes:Learning fun

  1. To provide quality care for infants and children from low-income families living in Price Hill and surrounding communities;
  2. To offer significant early-learning experiences that help children meet immediate development milestones, as well as prepare them for school success in the future; and
  3. To foster the parent-child-teacher relationship as a building tool to enhance each participant-child's learning experience.Making friends

The Salvation Army recognizes the significant challenges faced by some families in low-income neighborhoods. Factors such as illiteracy, drugs or violence can negatively impact the children in such families.  As such, The Salvation Army Learning Center seeks to address two primary problems:

  1. The lack of affordable, enriching childcare for low-income families; and
  2. The long-term negative impact of children entering kindergarten insufficiently prepared to learn and succeed in school.

The Salvation Army Learning Center offers a caring, nurturing environment, where children can be safe, play, and learn.  In addition to the educational and recreational aspects of the programs offered, snacks and meals are provided to address the reality of hunger present among many of the families served by the Center.

To learn more about the Center and its programs, as well as to inquire about available openings for infant and grade-school-age children, please contact the Center's director, Stephanie Simmons, at 513-241-1451.
