The Salvation Army provides a residential program for teen mothers and their babies at our Gentle Arms program in Fall River, Massachusetts.

At Gentle Arms, we provide a safe home environment for the teens and their children, and a supportive group setting where they can develop their abilities and share their experiences.

Through Gentle Arms, the young mothers receive instructions in parenting and life skills so they can become better parents and their young families will have a brighter future. Additional services include tutoring, budgeting skills workshops, and job readiness training.

All participating mothers work or attend school and are referred through the Department of Social Services or Transitional Assistance. Gentle Arms has received recognition from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

When a young mother leaves the Gentle Arms program, it is with a clear vision of where she is going and what she needs to do to get there. Follow-up services from Gentle Arms staff ensure that she continues to have all the support and help that she needs to stay on track.

Importantly, our message to young mothers is one of God?s love and acceptance - teaching them that they are valued, they are worthwhile, and they can make good choices for themselves and their children in the future.
