At a recent community meeting in Dorchester the Community Campaign phase of The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Capital Campaign launched. And in an effort to involve the community further as well as track progress a community campaign webpage also debuted. The webpage is designed to inspire action and explain how the campaign works. The Salvation Army's 2008 Annual Report has been published and mailed. Inside you will see the programs offered by the Army in full detail. From the Children's Learning Center that has educated children in need for 86 years to the Service Extension Department that allows the Army to respond to needs in every zip code of Massachusetts. Nearly one out of three individuals who need treatment for addiction is a woman. The Salvation Army's Eva Booth House serves these women, confident they are more than twice as likely to complete treatment at a women-only center. NECN reporter Ally Donnelly visited the Eva Booth House and

one woman's journey - from a drug-fueled appearance on Cops - to recovery through The Salvation Army.

This past Christmas, injured Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (pictured left, red sweater) attended the Annual Salvation Army - Patriots Party. Every year the Patriots' owners Tom and Myra Kraft sponsor a get together at Gilette Stadium for more than 100 children in need. This past Christmas - Tom Terrific surprised everyone! The kids wanted to hang out and take pictures but back then the reporters in attendance wanted to know how Brady was recovering from his knee injury. The Boston Globe detailed the QB's entire media session that day in their "Reiss's Pieces" section.
For the 6th year in a row The Salvation Army in Dorchester hosts "Operation: Cinderella". Sixty moms who are struggling with various hardships are told to show up at the Jubilee House. None of them know that for one evening - their dreams will come true.
