Dear Jean & Staff,
Hurricane Katrina has changed our lives forever, but we will survive and go on. I am so very thankful that my daughter, son-in-law, friends, and pets are safe.
With the devastation all over the Gulf Coast caused by Katrina, I'm not sure where I will live, but I know I will be okay because of people like yourselves that care about others. I want you to know that your generosity, caring. and the gift you have given to us will never be forgotten.
May God watch over you the way He has us and keep you safe.

Ron Rice, Massillon, Ohio
Ron Rice is a 63 year-old business man, Salvation Army advisory board member, and donor in Massillon. He says, “I feel honored to be part of such an amazingorganization.” The services that The Salvation Army provide did not have to be explained to him by other board members, he had personal knowledge. Mr. Rice is the tenth child from a family of thirteen. While walking to school, one of his sisters fell and broke her leg. Upon going to the hospital it was discovered that she had cancer in her leg and had it amputated that very day. It was devastating for their family – emotionally and financially.
However, it wasn’t long before The Salvation Army took action. “Every night a group of women from the Army brought huge pans of some of the most delicious food I had ever tasted,” Mr. Rice remembers fondly. However, he would not realize until he was older that the most significant quality of the visits was perhaps not the food, but the feeling that the volunteers brought with them. The volunteers from The Salvation Army became friends during a time of crisis. Mr. Rice explains, “I didn’t realize I was receiving charity, they made us feel so special.” |

To Whom It May Concern:,
This organization has done so much to help me and members of my family over the years, when I read in the newspaper that your food pantry shelves were empty, I felt compelled to do whatever I could to help. The Salvation Army has helped thousands of families in the Lorain County area and I pray your contribution in the community will continue. This chick is a small gesture compare to all that you do, but I hope it will be a blessing to at least one family.
Thank you for all that you have done and will continue to don in the future. God Bless you all,
Sincerely
Deltrin K.
I may be locked up but I’m not locked out of the Kingdom of God.

Uplifting
Hi, I just wanted to write and say thank you so much for such a wonderful program like yours. I recently started attending Youngstown State University full-time and working part-time. I expected things to be tight but not this tight and because of programs like yours, I will be able to make it. I am very grateful and appreciate the help you’ve given my kids and I with the electric bill.
I also wanted to say thank you for being so nice to me. I know that right now I need a little help but you didn’t make me feel bad about it. Thank you. I really appreciate everything you’ve done.
Sincerely,

Trustworthy
We have felt for many years that The Salvation Army does the most with what is donated to help any person who needs help in many different ways. The Army not only feeds, clothes, and gives furniture, but they also serve the Christian needs of people.
At our local Salvation Army there is also an after school program which is ran by a retired teacher/missionary for children who need help with their school work or just a place to go.
From conversations with military personnel, they have said the Salvation Army was always “giving” to them when they were in the area. The Army has meals when possible and provides Christmas toys to as many children as possible. We not only donate money, but we love to fix our grandchildren’s outgrown toys (a good lesson on sharing for them) and buy new toys to donate too. It still never seems like we do enough.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey and Joe-Ann E. |
