Thank you for your interest in supporting the work of The Salvation Army.  With proper planning, you, your family, possibly even your family business, and your favorite charities, will be able to benefit from your goodwill.  For example, through your donations to The Salvation Army it is possible to receive income for life, reduce your capital gains or inheritance taxes, secure an income tax deduction, and/or increase the net value of the your estate for your loved ones.   In addition, through planned giving you don’t have to be wealthy to make or benefit from a significant gift to The Salvation Army.

As employees of The Salvation Army we are here to help you determine what options or simply, “language” should be included in your plans.   We can help you navigate the various options available for charitable gift giving: your will, stocks, revocable living trusts, life income gifts, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, life estates, real estate, retirement accounts, as well as many others. We work directly with you, your attorney, and/or advisor as needed.  In many cases we can do preliminary work on your gift planning that saves billable attorney or financial planner time, and therefore your money.

If you are considering including The Salvation Army as a beneficiary of your will or estate it is important to note that there is no such organization legally recognized as “The Salvation Army of Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont”.  The Army operates in northern New England as a New York organization.  An estate gift not made according to specific criteria will be allocated throughout the northeastern United States according to the laws of New York as well as the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).  As the Planned Giving team for The Salvation Army in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont we can help construct the proper bequest language consistent with your legacy goals to ensure your charitable intent is allocated entirely local and/or directed to the program(s) you want.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email, Planned Giving staff, us.
