Tenley WestbrookThe Salvation Army of Portsmouth, NH presents "Tenley Westbrook's Salute to the Salvation Army", a benefit concert on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 6PM at South Church, 292 State St, Portsmouth, NH.  The concert will feature performances by Westbrook and her band with special guests Carri Coltrane and The Overtones.

"Because of the economy we here at The Salvation Army have had to make some hard decisions and cutbacks to the staff and some services," says Captain Debora Coolidge, the Commanding Officer of the Salvation Army of Portsmouth. "Tenley, who volunteers at the Soup Kitchen, noticed the changes and offered to hold a benefit concert to help raise funds.  She enlisted the aid of some very talented musicians, Carri Coltrane and The Overtones, and we have high hopes that many people in the community will support this effort and attend this evening of great music and fellowship.  We are also blessed by the offer of professional artist Pamela Sawin, a member of the York Art Association, to create and donate a painting during the performance which will be auctioned to the highest bidder at the end of the concert. The Executive Board and I are very excited and touched by the generosity of these fine musicians, technicians and of Ms. Sawin.  During the concert, we will highlight some of the services we offer so that the public is better aware of our broader services to the communities of Eliot, Kittery, Kittery Point, ME, Portsmouth, Greenland, New Castle and Newington NH."

Westbrook, a singer-songwriter and recording artist from Portsmouth, has entertained audiences in stadiums, churches, and concert halls all over this country.  She has performed her original song "Our Freedom Song", a tribute to our military and their families written with producer John Paul, at USO events, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, Pease International Airport andat various military locations.  Tenley Westbrook's Christmas for the Troops 2011, a concert/global webcast she hosted in December, reached over 81,000 people, some in attendance at Bethany Church in Greenland, NH and those watching online in Afghanistan, Korea and all over the world. Tenley and her band consistently perform a powerful, uplifting and energetic mix of pop, gospel and patriotic music that brings positivity and joy to their audiences.
