A native of Chester County, Mrs. Moran has worked tirelessly to make the Philadelphia region a better place to live. Her devotion to improving the Delaware Valley has enriched the cultural, educational, health and recreational fabric of our communities. Most significantly, Mrs. Moran cares deeply about people, especially our most vulnerable neighbors.
The Salvation Army Others Award, honors an individual or organization exemplifying an extraordinary spirit of service to "others." Consideration for the award is given to those who have exhibited extraordinary service on behalf of others and exceptional service to The Salvation Army and/or community. No more than one Others Award may be given in a community each year.
The Salvation Army is privileged to present Mrs. Moran with the 2009 Others Award.
The event will also feature the presentation of two Salvation Army Doing the Most Good Community Leadership Awards. The awards honor individuals or organizations whose demonstrated leadership inspires others to do the most good for the less fortunate around them.
The first to the Honorable Michael A. Nutter, Mayor, City of Philadelphia. Mayor Nutter's passion for Philadelphia has its roots in his childhood in West Philadelphia, and his public service as Ward Leader and City Councilman. He was among the first civic leaders to embrace the vision represented by The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, and his unwavering support has been key to the project's success.
The Salvation Army is deeply grateful for Mayor Nutter's devotion to our city and all of its residents.
The second Salvation Army Doing the Most Good Community Leadership Award is being presented to CBS 3 and The CW Philly.
For more than 20 years CBS 3 has helped to provide families in need with hope during the holidays. The annual CBS 3 / The CW Philly Joy of Sharing campaign collects thousands of new, unwrapped toys for The Salvation Army Holiday Toy Drive which serves thousands of children each year.
The Salvation Army is pleased to honor CBS 3's long-standing commitment to making a difference for families in need.
