This year marks The Salvation Army's 150th Anniversary, the second largest charity in the United Sates. Originating in 1865 in London, England, the organization championed and provided to the most needy, continuing today to adapt to the needs of the communities in order to "Do The Most Good".

Haiti: A Look Five Years Later
On January 12, 2010, a devastating 7.0 earthquake rocked the country of Haiti, causing massive damage, taking an estimated 300,000 lives, and leaving more than one million people homeless in one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. In the midst of the chaos, The Salvation Army was there serving those in need immediately after the earthquake hit.

Salvation Army Receives Unique Red Kettle Donations
While you were out enjoying time with loved ones, or getting that last minute Christmas shopping wrapped up, chances are you came across one of our 25,000 bell ringers standing with The Salvation Army's iconic red kettles and ringing those glorious bells. Supporters walking by typically hand over spare change and dollar bills, but every year we see unique contributions such as gold coins, wedding bands and golden nuggets finding their way into our red kettles from generous, anonymous passersby who wish to make a huge impact.

CBS 3 Hosts Annual Joy of Sharing Drive Thru Toy Drop Off
On Friday, December 19, CBS 3 and The CW Philly hosted their annual Joy of Sharing Drive Thru Toy Drop Off outside their studios at 1555 Hamilton Street in North Philadelphia to benefit underprivileged children served by The Salvation Army. Beginning at 6:00 a.m. with an empty truck, the event culminated at 8:00 p.m. with a truck overflowing with new, unwrapped toys.
