Cook - Part Time (17 Hours per week & 18.5 Hours per week)
Summary Job Description: Under the direct supervision of the Food Services manager, this position is responsible for preparing, cooking and feeding up to 80 people twice a day, three days per week, as well as cleaning the Kitchen, Dining Room, and storage areas at our downtown location. Applicant must have knowledge of cooking from scratch for large groups, ability to follow menus, recipes, and portion sizes while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation of all food prepared and served.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required, with at least one year of professional experience in the culinary field as a cook. Culinary education preferred but not required. Must have sufficient knowledge of Department of Health regulations; preference given to those possessing a sanitation license and Monroe County Food Worker Certification.
Social Worker
Summary Job Description: The Social Worker is responsible for providing services, guidance and referral to clients applying for emergency assistance.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Social Work or a 4 year degree in a human services related field with at least one year of experience in the field required. Must possess strong knowledge of DHS and other emergency based services available in the community. Strong computer knowledge a must; ability to communicate in Spanish preferred. Must be willing to participate in an after hours on-call rotation that provides emergency housing placements via telephone.
Case Manager
Summary Job Description: Provide case management services to Genesis House clients during their residence at the shelter and up to one year after they have left the program.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a 4 year degree in a Human Services Field (sociology, psychology, education). One year post degree paid experience as a counselor in a residential or community program for children or youth. Must have at least 6 months previous staff supervisory experience in the field of children, youth, emergency or general social services. Experience working with youth (particularly age 16-20 - both male and female) is essential. Requires a valid New York State Driver License.
