The Media Ministries Bureau has won various awards for the quality of their work, both nationally and internationally.

2001 Awards

Aurora Award

auroraThe Media Ministries Bureau is pleased to announce the winning of the 2001 AURORA GOLD AWARD for the video "Truth Aflame." The Aurora Award is an international film and video competition. The Bureau has currently won five national awards, (2 Telly Awards and and 3 Aegis Awards) with the Aurora being our first international award. We praise and give thanks to God for it is our desire to Honor the Lord in our ministry.

Thanks to the Bureau staff for their hard work: Anita Schultz, David Baker, Erika Smith, Tom Big and former staff members Ian Evans & Andrew Maxwell. A special 'hat's off' to Jim Humphrey, our outstanding 3D animator, for his creative contributions!


Aegis Award

aegisWest Nyack, New York – The Salvation Army-USA East has won a 2001 Aegis Award for an eight-minute video produced for The Salvation Army-USA East. The Aegis Awards are the industry’s premier competition for peer recognition of outstanding video productions and non-network TV commercials. This year’s Aegis Award is the third for The Salvation Army-USA East in recent years.

TRUTH AFLAME” was honored in the “Event” category for its outstanding production quality by a distinguished panel of judges representing industry professionals from around the country.

At the 2000 International Congress in Atlanta, Georgia, the USA Eastern Territory Media Ministries Bureau produced for the Accelevision Rally an eight-minute video showing The Salvation Army USA East in the year 2025. A variety of images were presented showing Moon Corps, underwater corps, robot kettle workers, etc… Special music was scored by Kevin Norbury and the delegates were taken on an incredible journey to the future. The Bureau also won finalist awards for “BOOTH TUCKER AND THE FRINGLE” and “YOU’RE IN THE ARMY NOW.”

The Media Ministries Bureau is the only Corporate Video Studio part of a Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters in the USA. The bureau has gown in the past ten years to a full state-of-the-art production facility, providing foremost quality and low cost videos to the Corps, Divisions and Territorial Events. Staff members include: Jeff Schultz - Director, Anita Colby-Schultz - Associate Director, Tom Big - Editor, David Baker - Technical Assistant, Erika Smith - Secretary, Territorial Commander - Commissioner Joe Noland, Program Secretary - Lt. Colonel Gilbert Reynders.


Telly Award

tellyThe Media Ministries Bureau is very proud to announce the winning of two Telly Awards for the year 2001.

They are:

  1. "Truth A flame" - Animation Category

  2. "You're In The Army Now" - Employee Communication Category

"Truth Aflame" was the nine minute video featuring a number of animations showing the USA Eastern Territory in the year 2025. Such visuals as Underwater Corps, Robot Kettle workers, Moon Corps, and Mobile Corps were featured.

"You're In The Army Now" was a unique approach to employee orientation, using Carol Jaudes, Ian Evans, and Lt. Jim Jacobs who acted out the first day of a new employee in The Salvation Army workplace. Dorothy Post wrote the script, and the concept idea was developed by Tom Baker.

We are most proud of David Baker, Ian Evans, Andrew Maxwell, Anita Schultz, Tom Big (our editor), and Jim Humphrey (our animator) for their hard work and ministry not only in these two projects, but their year round work for this territory's Media Ministries Bureau. And a special thanks to our administration for allowing us to 'pull out the stops' in our video creativity.

2002 Awards

MEDIA MINISTRIES BUREAU WINS FIVE 2002 TELLY AWARDS

The 23rd Annual Telly Awards has presented The Salvation Army U.S.A. Eastern Territory Media Ministries Bureau five awards for the year 2002.

Winners include:

  1. "Dare to Live the Difference" - produced for the Youth Department for candidate recruitment for officership.

  2. "HopeShare Music Video" - produced for the HopeShare Department to promote the HopeShare program around the territory. (2 awards)

  3. "Forward Together" - an overview of the work of The Salvation Army in the Southern Africa Territory. The video host is Commissioner Israel L. Gaither, the newly appointed U.S.A. Eastern Territory leader as of August 2002.

  4. "At the Edge of Time" - a multi-media presentation using the music composition of Lt.-Colonel Ray Steadman-Allen. It features three movements based on the book of Revelation and the end of time with the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. This production was featured in concerts with the New York Staff Band.

These productions are judged by over twenty highly qualified production professionals representing a cross section of producers from agencies, TV stations, production houses, and corporate video departments from around the United States.

The Bureaus' 2002 winners were chosen from the categories of "religion" and "cost effective/low budget."

Jeff Schultz, Media Ministries Bureau Director, salutes the hard work of the bureau staff: Tom Big, David Baker, Lynn Gryniak, and Anita Schultz. Also our 3D animator, Jim Humphrey, who adds so much to these productions with his creativity. We also thank the HopeShare, Youth, and Music Departments for allowing Media Ministries to create these videos. All honor to our Lord Jesus Christ!


2003 Awards

tellyThe 24th Annual Telly awards presented The Salvation Army U.S.A. Eastern Territory two awards in 2003.
Winners include:

  1. Christmas Castle – produced for the Development Department. This video is a demo/how-to on creating a Christmas Castle in your community. A new and innovative way to raise funds and generate donations of toys, food, and clothing for the needy in your area.

  2. Bridgebuilders – is a Cadet’s session logo animation created by Jim Humphrey.

2005 Awards

video award 05The U.S.A. Eastern Territory Media Ministries Bureau is pleased to announce the winning of two VIDEOGRAPHER AWARDS for the following:

  1. "The World for God"
    Category: Religious/Low Budget
    Top Level - Award of Excellence

  2. "The World for God"
    Category: Religious/Inspirational
    Top Level - Award of Excellence

"The World for God" was created and used for the 2003 NAOC (National Advisory Organizations Conference) held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as well as for our own Commissioning Weekend 2003.

There were 2,134 entries from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in the Videographer Awards 2004 competition.

The Videographer Award is an international awards organization that helps set the standards for the video production industry. Media Ministries was honored with these awards along with such notables as: ABC News, Good Morning America, Prime Time Thursday, Fox Sports, and New York University.

A special thanks to Carol Jaudes (who portrayed General Evangeline Booth), Dr. Harold Burgmayer for his music composition, the live performance of the United Songsters & New York Staff Band, and the Media Ministries staff - Jeffrey Schultz, Anita Schultz, Tom Big, Lynn Gryniak, and David Baker.


2006 Awards

  1. "Katrina Reflections"
    Category: Religious/Low Budget
    Top Level - Award of Excellence
  2. "Katrina Reflections"
    Category: Religious/Inspirational
    Top Level - Award of Excellence


  3. There were 2,327 entries from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in The Videographer Awards 2006 competition. The Award of Excellence was awarded to those projects that the judges deemed were written, produced, shot, and edited in an exceptional manner. Joshua Muir, Live Events Producer, produced this heart-warming production based on the experience and footage of Major Linda-Jo Perks (Springfield, Massachusetts).

The Videographer Award is an international awards organization that helps set the standards for the video production industry. Media Ministries is honored to be a recipient of these two awards.
