Plot Summary
A musical based on the story of "The Ugly Duckling."

SYNOPSIS
"Honk!" tells the story of an odd looking baby duck, Ugly, and his quest to find his mother. Soon after Ugly is born, he is lured away by a wily Cat who wants to eat Ugly for dinner. Eventually, Ugly manages to escape but has no idea how to return home. Along his way, he encounters a beautiful swan, Penny, tangled in a fishing line. After saving her, the two birds fall in love. However, she must return to her flock and fly south for the winter. Eventually, Ugly's mother finds him frozen in snow. Luckily, her warm tears manage to thaw him out and he comes back to life – as a handsome swan! Soon, Ugly is reunited with Penny and two swans decide to live the rest of their days in the same pond as Ugly's loyal mother. Abridged to 60-80 minutes.

What is CAST?
This 8-week mission team will consist of a group of Christian young-adults (18 or older) gifted in creative arts with an emphasis on acting, music, and dancing. They will be led by adult leaders who will provide spiritual and practical guidance. Ian Evans will supervise the team over the course of the eight weeks.

Why CAST?

The objective of this team will be to use the worship arts to support the vision and mission of The Salvation Army. This would be accomplished through performing and teaching in the areas of dance, drama, vocal and music theory at various summer camps. These camps serve youth that often do not get to see much outside of the inner city or usually are unable to attend because of lack of money. In addition, previous CAST groups have performed for seniors, the handicapped and general public audiences. The summer ends with outdoor performance ministry at the Pier in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

How long is the commitment?
Usually 8 weeks starting in June until August. This year's dates are:

Is CAST for me?
We always strive for excellence but would invite you to apply even if you are unsure of your abilities. Former CAST members have said that they have learned to stretch and grow in many ways during their CAST experience. We try to look at the heart as well as a person's talent. We seek individuals with abilities such as - acting, dancing, singing, instrumental, or any combination of these but we are first and foremost a service team.

You must be at least 18 years old as of June and be active in your Corps or Church.

Will I get paid for being involved in the ministry?
Yes. You will be hired as a seasonal part-time employee. A lump sum is paid in August.
