Plot Summary Based on the novel “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis This production is based on the classic story set in the land of Narnia. It faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. This story of love, faith, courage and giving, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life.
What is CAST? This 8-week mission team will consist of a group of Christian young-adults (18 or older) gifted in creative arts with an emphasis on acting, music, and dancing. They will be led by adult leaders who will provide spiritual and practical guidance. Ian Evans will supervise the team over the course of the eight weeks.
Why CAST? The objective of this team will be to use the worship arts to support the vision and mission of The Salvation Army. This would be accomplished through performing and teaching in the areas of dance, drama, vocal and music theory at various summer camps. These camps serve youth that often do not get to see much outside of the inner city or usually are unable to attend because of lack of money. In addition, previous CAST groups have performed for seniors, the handicapped and general public audiences. The summer ends with outdoor performance ministry at the Pier in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
How long is the commitment? Usually 8 weeks starting the second week in June until the second week of August. This year's dates are from Tuesday Night June 18th to Tuesday Morning August 13th.
Is CAST for me? We always strive for excellence but would invite you to apply even if you are unsure of your abilities. Former CAST members have said that they have learned to stretch and grow in many ways during their CAST experience. We try to look at the heart as well as a person's talent. We seek individuals with abilities such as - acting, dancing, singing, instrumental, or any combination of these but we are first and foremost a service team.
You must be at least 18 years old as of June and be active in your Corps or Church.
Will I get paid for being involved in the ministry? Yes. You will be hired as a seasonal part-time employee. A lump sum is paid in August.
