HOLIDAY ANGEL TREE PROGRAM
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program provides new clothing or toys for children of needy families. A sponsoring company or corporation places a Christmas tree in a secure, high-pedestrian traffic area or lobby. The tree is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child who will receive the gift. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags.
Sponsors: Each year, sponsors ranging from neighborhood associations to private companies volunteer to place Angel Trees in high-traffic areas within their community, organization or office. Many sponsors provide a tree as an added donation along with promotional materials to inform their community, members or staff of the program along with confidential information about the children, who will benefit from their generosity. The sponsoring organization also serves as a collection point for the gifts, and provides secure storage until a volunteer from The Salvation Army can collect the gifts for distribution along with food and meals to help needy families enjoy the holiday season. "Girls just wanna have fun" . . . and they did!
HARTFORD - The Pond House was pumping. The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary of Greater Hartford held their Annual Meeting and Fashion Show on Friday October 23 at the Pond House Café on the Hartford/ West Hartford town line. Yvonne Nava, morning anchor at WVIT TV 30, served as the announcer, kept the models moving and the fashion descriptions on point. There was something for everyone. Business Suits for the office, dresses for around town, gowns for the special occasion, casual attire for the well dressed shopper, jewelry to match the outfits and assorted accessories to pull it all together. From our senior model - Dee Collier to our youngest ones (the Girls Scouts from Farmington) all the models were fantastic. A crowd of better than 75 members and guests were in attendance and everyone had a great time. Funds raised will go to support Salvation Army programs in Greater Hartford.

HARTFORD
- The FedEx Ramp Managers from Bradley

Project. The truck was in need of a complete cleaning, both inside and out after
responding to many emergency calls in the Greater Hartford area. The FedEx
employees selected the task and came ready to clean. Jim Gordon, Director of
Public Relations & Marketing for the Southern New England Division of the
Salvation Army said, "these guys were fantastic! The truck looked like new when
they were finished and the crew looked like they had a great time cleaning it. We
could not complete our mission without volunteers, and we are extremely grateful
to FedEx, the United Way and all our volunteers."

Some fans brought toys in exchange for a general admission ticket to the game. Before the game, Rocky and his friends celebrated on the field with an old fashioned game of musical chairs and breaking the piñata. Rocky opened his gifts and donated them all to The Salvation Army for deserving kids. Rocky won the game of musical chairs. And to top it off the Rock Cats won 1-0 in an 11th inning game.
