Commissioner Eva and I are in continual prayer for our Army leadership of the Caribbean Territory as well as local leadership in Haiti. We thank God for the courage of Salvationists and Army volunteers. Read more of the Commander's letter...

HARTFORD - The 20th Anniversary WTIC 1080 Holiday Store raised $193,550.39 in cash donations this holiday season. The program exceeded last year's dollar amount by almost 7%. Major Doug Hart, area coordinator for The Salvation Army in Greater Hartford said, "We are so happy and so blessed that people can be this generous during these difficult economic times. It is truly a miracle. Many families rely on us for help to get them through the holidays and we were very concerned about the sharp increase in the number of individuals that were asking for help this year. The Holiday Store success will go a long way in helping these individuals and families. I want to thank WTIC 1080 and their listeners for this unbelievable spirit of giving. We could not do our work without people like this." |

FIONDELLA'S PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR HEART IS!

HARTFORD - Thanks to the Fiondella's, Bob Fiondella and his son Bob, kids at The Salvation Army's North End Corps have a new playground at their Nelson Street community center. Bob Fiondella recognized the need for children on this side of the City to have a safe and fun environment to spend their free time, and being a man of action, he promised to do something about it! The original funding to start the project was made available through a generous donation from United Parcel Service (UPS) and their employees last Spring, but the remaining funds to finish the project came from the Fiondella family. Bob also presented a check to Captain Ervin McCoy for the North End Children's Christmas Party. So . . . . not only did the kid's around Nelson Street have a great party . . . they also have a great place to play when the weather gets warm again. We thank the Fiondella's and UPS for helping The Salvation Army with this wonderful project.
