ANOTHER REALLY BIG HIT FASHION SHOW!

WEST HARTFORD – Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, Christine Glasco, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Bobowski, Calvin Klein, Mucci, and Dior. Yes… all the big names were at The Salvation Army’s Greater Hartford Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show on October 25th at the Pond House Café. The annual gala was well-attended and featured many gorgeous outfits. The goal for the evening was "to show you how to get today’s look using consignment fashions," and we think the ladies were very successful in fulfilling their goal!

The Salvation Army’s Greater Hartford Women’s Auxiliary has been a presence in the community for over 40 years. Through the fundraising efforts of the Auxiliary’s members, the organization has been able to support many local operating units of The Salvation Army. For example, last year’s grants, which totaled over $6,000, were awarded to: The Right Place early learning program to purchase digital cameras for every classroom; Marshall House to purchase a new freezer and six cribs for its Family Shelter; and scholarships for four children to attend Camp CONNRI – an overnight summer camp run by The Salvation Army. Funds were also donated to support the Continental Breakfast Program for the VA Hospital and for improvements to the front lobby at the The Salvation Army’s Greater Hartford Area Services’ building. Truly, money well-needed and well-spent!

Tall, talented, and always-eloquent Emma Asante, Community Projects Director from NBC 30, served as the Fashion Show Commentator. She did an outstanding job of matching the wardrobes, the models, and the script, certainly no easy task!

Greater Hartford Area Services Associate Coordinator, Captain Christine Glasco (pictured right), said, "The amount of time these ladies spend organizing this event is unbelievable. All the details and planning keeps everyone running for months. I want to especially thank Sandra Bobowski and Jeanne Mucci for the fruits of their labor and all of the women (and a few gentlemen too) that supported our 'Fashion Show.' The funds raised will be well spent on helping our neighbors in and around Greater Hartford."

Special thanks also goes to the following: NBC 30, Antonia’s Hair Boutique, Jewelry by Hope Roecker, Boxed Goodes – Pamela Dunn, Pine Meadow Company – Friday Easton, Quilting by Betty – Betty Richter, Thirty-One Gifts – Melanie Westerberg, Roxy’s Forever Home – author Teresa Pelham, Bridgewater Chocolates – Sarah Hill, Cultivated Gardens – Lisa Newell, Janet Mellon – Southington Community Services Department, The Pond House and Staff, Captain Christine Glasco, Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show Volunteers, and special thanks to all the members for their generous support!
