BRIDGEPORT – "Good food, good conversation, and great guests. What
more could you ask for?" said The Salvation Army's Bridgeport Corps
Officer, Major Lydia L. Pearson. "This was a great opportunity for friends,
neighbors, elected officials, and volunteers to come and see The Salvation Army
in action at our open house on February 15th. The Salvation Army has been
operating in Bridgeport since 1883, and yet, many people are still not familiar
with the programs or services that we offer. Our guests were taken on a tour of
our facility and they had the opportunity to learn about our programs. They
also met our Officers, board members and staff. I think when the evening was
over, everyone left with a better appreciation of our mission and what we do in
the community."
"It was encouraging for me to meet so many new people and have the
opportunity to tell them about the mission of The Salvation Army. I heard
several comments, akin to 'I didn't know that you did that,' when in reality we
do that and more, and have been doing such for years. The Salvation Army does
so many different things to help people in need and it is always great to have
an opportunity like this open house to get our message out," said Lisa M.
Goepfert, M.S.W., Director of Development for The Salvation Army's Southern New
England Division.
