THE SALVATION ARMY OPENS NEW STORE IN
WILLIMANTIC
Offering Budget Bargains for Every
Member of the Family to Fund Help for Those in Need
WILLIMANTIC - The Salvation Army is set to open a new store in Willimantic
on Saturday, February 18th . The new store is designed to improve the shopping
experience for its customers and includes 18,200 square feet of shopping space
filled with bargain-priced clothing, household items, electronics, books, toys,
furniture, and collectables. Budget-conscious shoppers will also appreciate the
store’s even deeper “Family Day” discounts on Wednesdays.
Located at 1311 Main Street next to The ACCESS Agency, across the street from
Taco Bell, the Family Store will open its doors for the first time at 10:00 am.
Opening day shoppers will enjoy prizes and refreshments along with bargains
galore and a visit from Country 92.5, WWYZ.
The new store will bring more than 12 new jobs to the area. It will also
make it possible for The Salvation Army to provide better assistance for people
in the community who are struggling with alcohol, drugs, and other life issues,
since revenues from the Family Thrift Store will support the charity's Adult
Rehabilitation Center. This center offers services free of charge, and sales
from its Family Thrift Stores are its sole source of funding. Families in need
may also receive vouchers for free furniture or clothing from the store through
other programs of The Salvation Army.
"The new Family Store will offer more selection and more bargains that
appeal to everyone in order to provide our customers with a better shopping
experience and support our social services work," says David Deitrick, who
oversees The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center in Hartford. "We
really look forward to contributing to the community at all levels."
Tax receipts will be provided on-the-spot for any donations received during
store hours, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. After-hours clothing
donations can be dropped in the bins located in the parking lot. For more
information, please call 1-800-SA-TRUCK.
