AETNA HUMAN RESOURCE LEADERS TEAM BUILDING PROJECT
BENEFITS THE SALVATION ARMY
Ready, set, paint!
HARTFORD – The Right Place, The Salvation Army’s Early Child Care Center on Sigourney Street, will become the new home of the “jungle mural” from Aetna employees through their Art of Giving Program. The colorful painting is made up of eight - 2’ x 2’ squares and depicts wild animals in a natural jungle habitat. The theme is something that the three to five year olds study in many of their readings and activities lessons. Aetna volunteers have dedicated their time and talent to create a masterpiece and improve upon their own team building skills. The "unveiling" ceremony took place on Tuesday, December 6th at 10:00 am at The Right Place - 123 Sigourney Street in Hartford.
Aetna Human Resources Contact Center Manager,
Kelly Bedard, who managed the
event, said “This was a great opportunity for Aetna’s Human
Resource leaders to participate and express their creativity in a team building
activity benefiting the community that we live and work in. We're thrilled our
efforts will be enjoyed by the children who use the services of The Salvation
Army.”
Nancy Winslow, Director of Childcare Programs, said,
“Our children will see and admire the mural every day. This will be a
piece of art that will decorate and enliven our facility and show the children
what nature is all about. We are grateful to the Aetna “artists”
and to Aetna itself for all their support of The Right Place - our Asylum Hill
Neighborhood program.”

Area Services Coordinator for The Salvation Army said, “We are very
blessed to
receive this gift from the Aetna volunteers and their Art of Giving Program.
The Right Place child care building is almost in the shadow of Aetna Corporate
Headquarters and Aetna employees travel past our front door every day on their
way to the office. Now we can invite our neighbors in to see our program in
action and check out their wonderful artwork at the same time. I want to thank
Aetna and all their employees for all the things they do to help The Salvation
Army.”
