HARTFORD – On November 5th, Best Cleaners kicked off its annual COATS FOR CONNECTICUT drive. With three successful years of collecting, cleaning, and delivering well-over 6,500 winter coats to those in need, the team at Best Cleaners has set the bar even higher for this year’s campaign. Hurricane Sandy’s destruction and weather predictions for a harsh winter ahead motivated this 11-store, environmentally-friendly dry-cleaning chain to up their goal to 3,000 coats this year. Best customers and the general public are asked to drop off gently-used winter coats for all ages at any location for free cleaning and weekly delivery to The Salvation Army’s Corps Centers in the Greater Hartford, Middletown, Meriden, Bristol, and New Britain areas through January 5th.

“The COATS FOR CONNECTICUT campaign is a great way for us to give back to our communities with what we do best – providing environmentally-safe dry-cleaning and free delivery. The first three years of the campaign were extremely successful with 2,000 coats collected in year one and over 2,500 collected last year,” stated Best Cleaners President Shawn McCann, “Now we want to aim even higher!”

Major Dave Champlin, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army’s Southern New England, said, “When the Best Cleaners delivery vans arrive at our Corps, it is a wonderful sight to see all of the coats, cleaned, wrapped in plastic, and hung on hangers, looking brand new! Struggling families then come in and find a winter coat or jacket to help them and their children stay a little warmer through the cold winter… it is indeed a beautiful experience. Many of Connecticut’s families are more comfortable today, thanks to the generosity of Best Cleaners and their customers. The Salvation Army and our clients thank you!”

Best Cleaners has locations in Berlin, Bristol, Canton, Farmington, Glastonbury, Middletown, North Haven, Plainville, Rocky Hill, and Windsor. For more information on the COATS FOR CONNECTICT clothing drive and Best Cleaners locations, go to www.bestcleaners.com or call 1-888-950-BEST.
