THE SALVATION ARMY'S RENOWNED NEW YORK
STAFF BAND IN CONCERT AT MANCHESTER CORPS
- The Salvation Army’s New York Staff Band will be performing a concert
on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 7:00 PM, at The Salvation Army’s
Manchester Corps, located at 661 Main Street in Manchester, Connecticut.
The group has established a reputation as one of the world’s finest
brass bands. Its mission has remained virtually unaltered since it was
established in 1887: to bring public awareness to the work of The Salvation
Army, to support fundraising efforts, and to provide a model of ministry and
In fulfilling its mission and reaching a diverse audience, the New York
Staff Band has ministered everywhere, from nursing homes and hospitals, to such
celebrated venues as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, and
Central Park, and has performed with artists like Elton John and the New York
Philharmonic. Recently, the band held its 125th Anniversary Concert at Carnegie
Hall, with the King's Singers, along with Philip Cobb of the London
Philharmonic, as musical guests.
Band members are volunteers, musicians who worship, as well as perform, at
