The Salvation Army responds to people in need every day of the year. Our ability to fulfill this community commitment relies heavily on individuals just like you. We welcome your interest in becoming a volunteer. Please join us in our mission to do the most good.
There are many opportunities to help The Salvation Army in Springfield serve those in the community. As a general guideline, please use the following to direct your contacts for volunteer opportunities in Springfield:
- General Volunteer Opportunities -- these can be at various events implemented by The Salvation Army, or for specific projects in the community. For more information, contact Greg Johnson at 937-322-3434 or greg.johnson@use.salvationarmy.org.
- Red Kettle Campaign -- each year, before Christmas, The Salvation Army is present in the community to collect funds via our familiar red kettles, outside stores like Kroger, Wal-Mart and others. This is a major source of important funding for The Salvation Army's work in Springfield, and volunteers are needed to ensure that the kettles are staffed during peak hours. For more information, contact Greg Johnson at 937-322-3434, or greg.johnson@use.salvationarmy.org.
- Emergency Disaster Services -- when disaster strikes, The Salvation Army is there to help. Volunteering to assist The Salvation Army during emergency situations requires special training. To find out more about serving the community (either locally or regionally) in this manner, please contact Sue Andrews at 937-322-3434.
