THE SALVATION ARMY RAY AND JOAN KROC CORPS COMMUNITY CENTERs offer recreational, spiritual, educational, and cultural arts programs of superb quality. These versatile facilities are open to people of all ages and offer a wide variety of programs and services focused on building character, confidence, and capacity for excellence within underserved communities.
Update: May 2009 - As plans for the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center of Staten Island progress, several challenges must be faced.
The immediate challenge is finalizing acquisition of the land for the center, which must be completed by June 30. Once the land is in possession of The Salvation Army, the charity will work with the local community to raise the $200 million necessary to make this resource available for the benefit of all.
A Catalyst For Change
Families in underserved communities are exponentially less likely to have access to the resources needed to thrive. It is obvious we must work together toward long-term change and radically different outcomes.
The Staten Island center is aimed to provide such change.
