The Uniontown Salvation Army loves the summer time because we get to do things that are not available throughout the rest of the year. This summer we have the privilege of sending 26 children to The Salvation Army Camp Allegheny in Ellwood City, PA. While kids are at camp, they have the opportunity to learn a new sport, swim everyday, learn musical instruments and dance, go on hikes up to a waterfall, earn badges towards The Salvation Army girls and boys troop program, be around other kids their age and much, much more! The camps last around 6 days and the kids that go have a great time. We love to send them!
But with sending children to camp comes the expense of sending those kids to camp. So over the summer we have to bring in the money to get these kids to camp. It costs us $100 per camp slot and it does become a large expense. If you feel the need to help us meet this expense and would like to help sponsor a child for camp, please contact Captain Jenn Blessing at 724-437-2031.
In August we also provide a Back To School program in which we give out bookbags and school supplies to those that apply. This service will be given out August 10th - 14th from 10am - 1pm. Those that need this assistance are asked to bring identification and social security cards for all those in the household as well as proof of income and expenses. If you would like to volunteer to help take applications and give out the items, please contact Captain Jenn Blessing.
August 17th - 21st is our Vacation Bible School. This year's theme is Studio Go! Game Show and it is going to be a fantastic time ending with our very own exciting game show. You will not want to miss it. All kids ages 4-12 are invited to be our special guests for the game show and everyone else is welcome to be part of the stage crew. Children are very important to The Uniontown Salvation Army. They are our future! So Wednesday nights are Kidz Club night! Along with the musical arts adn scouting programs that children can come to, we have a night just for the kids. Check out the Kidz Club page to learn more!
