DOING THE MOST GOOD
From survivors of natural disasters to those affected by substance abuse. From programs to equip children for the future to social events and educational opportunities for senior citizens. Whether leading an inmate to the Lord or helping a mother to grow in her faith at a neighborhood corps, The Salvation Army helps people in more ways than almost any other national charity.
Though The Salvation Army provides help and hope in virtually every community across the U.S., many people are unaware of the vast array of services and ministries it provides each day to glorify God and serve suffering humanity. In response, The Salvation Army has launched a national campaign called "Doing the Most Good" to help create a unified, accurate information base so each community can better understand The Salvation Army.
The idea was born after asking people across the nation their thoughts on The Salvation Army. Most had good feelings and trusted The Salvation Army. They believe we are a charity that is doing the most good with contributions of money, time and resources, thus the phrase, "Doing the Most Good."
"This is not just a slogan, it's a promise that we are giving to the people in the communities we serve, the personnel who serve with us and the donors who make this service possible," explained Major Ralph Bukiewicz, Central territorial community relations and development secretary. "Our officers, soldiers, employees, everyone associated with The Salvation Army is challenged to uphold our communities' belief that we are indeed ‘doing the most good.' With a united effort, we will bring into focus The Salvation Army's mission to advance the Kingdom of God and meet human needs in His name without discrimination."
I am doing the most good. I am hope. I am compassion. I am strength. I am faith.
I am doing the most good. I serve a community. A region. A nation. A world. I serve heroes. I serve victims. I serve a sovereign God.
I am doing the most good. I am an Army. Drafted by the Creator. Commissioned by a man who defied death. My enemies are despair and destruction. My ammunition is grace and mercy. My allies are generosity and benevolence. I am an Army. Helping others be all they can be.
I am doing the most good. I feed empty stomachs and hungry souls. I rebuild ruined homes and shattered lives. I am a willing listener for a veteran with stories to tell. I am a bottled water and an encouraging smile for weary firefighters. I am an answered prayer. A silver lining. A second chance.
I am doing the most good. I am a humble steward of other people's generosity. I am a grateful courier of a stranger's kindness. I am the faithful executor of others' goodwill. I take my responsibility seriously. I am blessed. I am a blessing.
I am The Salvation Army. I am doing the most good.
