Stearns & Foster® Gives The Gift Of Sleep This Holiday Season 20/11/2012
TRINITY, N.C. (November 20, 2012) – In keeping with the spirit of holiday giving, Stearns & Foster®, a luxury brand with an over 165-year history, has announced a renewed commitment to The Salvation Army through its 2012 Gift of Sleep program. In its third year, the program, which calls attention to the many Americans who do not have a place to sleep this holiday season, will deliver up to $1 million in new mattresses to The Salvation Army residential shelters in need throughout the United States, for a total three-year donation valued up to $3 million. “The Stearns & Foster® brand has had a wonderful history of philanthropy, and that legacy continues with our ongoing partnership with The Salvation Army,” said Jodi Allen, chief marketing officer, Sealy. “The contributions made to this program in previous years extend beyond the holiday season and have helped families who have fallen on hard times get back on their feet.” Now in its third consecutive year, the program benefits The Salvation Army’s residential shelters by calling attention to Americans experiencing hardships and emphasizing The Salvation Army’s continued need for donations. From Nov. 20, 2012 through Jan. 11, 2013, for every Stearns & Foster mattress sold by participating retailers, Stearns & Foster will donate a $100 equivalent in new mattresses to The Salvation Army’s residential shelters, aiming to donate up to $1 million in new mattresses to those who need it most. The Stearns & Foster founders came from humble beginnings and are remembered for their commitment to public service. Dating back to 1846, George S. Stearns has been credited for his contributions to the community, from building the first church, library and school in Wyoming, Ohio to donating drinking water and mattresses during Ohio's great flood of 1937.
